Behind Her Eyes: So No One’s Talking About the Cheating?
The focus, again, was on the women.
The show “Behind Her Eyes” is a limited series currently trending on Netflix UK and advertised as a “psychological thriller.”
Well, I love psychological thrillers. But I’m not sure I would recommend this show to other psychological thriller fans… because it’s not exactly a psychological thriller. If you haven’t seen this series, it’s a warning that there’s a spoiler below.
Overall, it was well-made. It did keep me guessing and managed to shock me at the end. As my partner had given up on it and gone to sleep for his work tomorrow, I finished the show myself and had no one to talk (complain) about it to. So, naturally, I looked up internet reviews.
I didn’t think much about the implications of the big reveal, but after reading this review about the “dubious messages” behind the plot, I’m not sure if its shock value even had any value at all, especially when I myself have written an article about the class ceiling in the UK.
In short, the working class character was made out to be the troubled, evil villain while the privileged remained perfect. Even more disturbingly, the show painted a narrative of a gay man stealing the bodies of the two…
