There are not many Asian characters on screen and in real life they're still the minority in the West so it's easy for people to think how one Asian acts is many Asian act. And the point of this article is to say there are other Asians as well. Sure the ideal is that people can handle multiple Asian characters and don't use one as a stereotype but is it the reality yet? I doubt. When there are many different, multi-dimensional Asian characters in one movie, like there are many different White characters in one movie, then Mindy can be Mindy. But for now, a misrepresentation is harmful.
