It's easier to lean on being single as it's something you can always choose, but it's not the same about being in a relationship. That's why many people find empowerment through embracing their singlehood. On the other hand, being in a relaitonship requires a level of vulnerability and dependency - it's not something you can just want and have it, so when you want it a lot and don't have it it's quite the opposite of empowering.
